This first image shows the common view of the Periodic Table of Elements. Chemists discovered in the 1860s that if the elements are arranged in the order of the mass of their atoms, chemical properties recur regularly. Dmitri Mendeleyev in 1869 published his Periodic Table, in which he arranged the elements then known in rows and columns to show this regularity, as shown above highlighting in this case the trends in covalent radii of the elements.
